calling all theater geeks! Ahem, calling all people who like fun BYOB nights outdoors in Miami!

The Front Yard Theater Collective started last summer when a local photographer, Pati Laylle, and printmaker, Gregg Rivero, opened their home with floors tiled in mosaic, done by the prior owner in the 70's or 80's as the sun and moon, to a group of friends who wanted to start a theater collective that proved art can really be made anywhere- even your own front yard. Friends started bringing friends, those friends brought friends and a year later they're still putting together shows once a month between sheets tied to trees. They've hosted open mics, improv sessions, and skits including contributions from everything from dancers to opera singers and, perhaps most impressively, they haven't gotten a noise complaint yet.

The members of the FYTC are true democratic artists, pulling together a show every month for their audience and encouraging them to participate in art by participating in the show. They have an array of backgrounds in theater from FIU theater majors to theater studies in Spain and a history with Laughing Gas, South Florida's longest running improv troupe (Director Gaby Gabriela).

Tomorrow night's FYTC show is 80's theme, working off a recent performance they just did at the Gusman of the same theme, and these days you can expect to see upwards of sixty to a hundred people on the lawn enjoying drinks they brought to share with friends and new friends and, perhaps after a few drinks, lots of audience participation.

All FYTC shows are free but donations are accepted and did I mention they're BYOB plus bring some to share? The show starts at 8 PM and should last till about 11 at 418 NE 29th St.
