stone groove's super host
every Tuesday night, Vagabond has an open mic event called Stone Groove. It's a great way to see a lot of local acts doing their thing. You get mc's, poets, singer-songwriters, full bands ... and best of all, Marcus Blake. He's the guy that hosts Stone Groove. It's hard to describe what he's like, but I'll say that he was born to host events like this. He answered a few questions for miami nice:
- Did you host show and tell in preschool ... When did you first start "hosting" live events?
Yes I was the host of show and tell in preschool. I wore white shades and white shoes. All of life is a show and I am the host with the most from coast to coast.

- Would you call it that, a "host"? How would you describe what you do?
I am just being Marcus Blake...I am just in the moment having a good time. Having a good time is contagious.

- Why did you end up at Vagabond? Did you help start Stone Groove?
I did not choose Vagabond, Vagabond chose me. Yes I helped start Stone Groove. It's my baby, she's a little shy of 2 years old...

- What do you love about Miami's music and arts culture?
I love that it's happening. It's all one in the same. The music is the fashion, the fashion is the people, the people are the culture, and the culture is Miami.

- As good as the performers at Stone Groove are, the show wouldn't be the same without you. Aside from being generally hilarious, how else do you make sure the show is enjoyable for everyone there?
Drink five MBZINI'S: Apple martini mixed with Patron, Red Bull and a splash of Hypnotic. And the rest is history.
