we've long been trying to string along the Proenza Schouler connection to Miami - designer Lazaro Hernandez is a Miami / Cuban - but this resort season, they did the work for us and released a super nice collection inspired by their recent trip to Cuba. Like so many of us toying with the idea of visiting the motherland, Hernandez pulled the trigger and made his maiden voyage to Cuba. The trip, to visit family on the island, resulted in a collection inspired by Cuba, but not overtly Cuban kitsch.

The clothes are feminine, a bit tattered a bit disheveled. The palm print, not featured in this selection, felt a little too obvious for me - but that red dress makes up for it in so many ways!
