on a long drive south, not as far south as The Keys, but as far south where US1 starts to turn pretty exclusively into car dealerships, you'll find an Asian Market that was recommended to me by the chef of a Thai cooking class I recently took.

About the cooking class, I would call it a pretty epic fail, curry, a dish I've made dozens of times was botched by using a paste that I bought at the market. The surely more authentic curry was so, so spicy that no amount of coconut milk could dilute it. Epic fail. The most epic culinary fail I've ever had. We had to toss it and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I tried the pad thai that the teacher whipped together like it aint no thing and it too was pretty awful.

However, this market was recommended by the teacher, and this was a pretty solid tip.

I love an "ethnic market." The products are so mysterious to me and so familiar to someone else and I didn't even have to go very far, well US1 and SW 160 is pretty far, but compared to China it's like NOTHING. There's always some little section that really surprises me, this time, it was the assortment of Caribbean, tropical goods including jerk hot sauce and tropical canned fruits.

This market, aptly called "Asia Market" as far as I can tell, didn't have a huge assortment of fresh produce, but what the selection was fresh and reasonably priced. Mushrooms that would cost me a handful of dollars at Publix and a handful more at Whole Foods where about two dollars. I guess that makes up for the gas spent to get all the way down there and buy a curry that was way to spicy for an American taste buds.
