frangipani

gold robots! Turkish towels! Hipster baby onsies! A little Havana cocktail glass! A little Havana bracelet! Tie-dyed shorts made by hand in the hood! A recent trip to Frangipani, a boutique right on the main stretch of NW 2nd Ave in Wynwood, left me wanting to use a whole lotta exclamation marks. If I knew how to do the upside down ones at the beginning of the sentence and wasn't too lazy to Google it  - I would be using those too.

Frangipani, a name that borderline makes me feel like I'm saying panties, isn't as singularly focused as the

across the street or as "Wynwood" as the gallery inside the Wynwood Walls. It's the kind of place that I recently realized how desperately we need in Miami. A trip to LA made me yearn for stores with goods that felt right for the local lifestyle, put together in a store where it looked like someone cared about the vignettes and the window displays; Frangipani's white-walled simplicity and turquoise and blue floors did that for me. Actually, what really did it for me was the collection of wooden and beaded clutches by a brand whose name I can't remember - but will be calling back to get tomorrow and updating on here ASAP.

It's not that anyone

needs

the things inside, but that's not always what you're looking for in a shopping experience, especially in a destination neighborhood like Wynwood,

where I went on a Saturday morning

hoping to be surprised. Frangipani surprised me, with a beautiful selection of things that were really, really nice.
