ABOUT PATRICIA

Patricia Guarch Wise was born in Miami, raised in Miami and then left to school in Boston and New York, where she* quickly realized she was obsessed with Miami. Patricia is an English-speaking Latina, a cultural mutt with Panamanian, Cuban, Lebanese, Spanish and British blood who likes paella, stone crabs, paranormal activity and Proenza.

She started MIAMI NICE while tricking the good people at NYU into letting her study Miami, guised by a concentration in Image Construction and Representation at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. At Gallatin you design your own major and they promote and they provoke the kind of hippie-dippy thinking that leads to crazy little projects like this one. Her studies included work in trend-forecasting, magazine publication, cultural curation and non-fiction writing. MIAMI NICE was the case study for her thesis, where she thought about the future of Latino culture and building a lifestyle brand that better represented it.

Patricia has a background in children's theater, was in a girl pop group, and considers herself a professional intern (CHANEL, NYLON, WILHELMINA MODELS, GEN ART locally, THE GREEN AGENCY, BOOKS & BOOKS). Post-graduation she volunteered at an artist-in-residency non-profit on Martha's Vineyard (Vineyard Arts Project) when she was run over by an SUV. After a relatively short recovery, for an innumerable amount of injuries, including a broken pelvis and five broken vertebrae and two resusitations later, she is back full-time in Miami.

Patricia's working on MIAMI NICE (on getting people to call her Patricia and not Pati) and as a full time blogger and digital brand consultant. Her specialty is in digital branding of place.

Some of her clients include the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB, miamiandbeaches.com) Coconut Grove Business Improvement District (BID, facebook.com/coconutgrovefl), Coral Gables Business Improvement District (shopcoralgables.com) and Miami International Auto Show (MIAS). She's contributed to Refinery29, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, Racked, the Miami New Times and collaborated with New York Magazine and Kenneth Cole.

Mostly, she's obsessed with food and justifies all that eating and cooking by saying she's "working."
