Andrew Ward is a DJ who's come to Miami by way of Ohio. You can catch him spinning tonight at Chalk with Afrobeta. He talks to us about PBR specials, what to jam to this summer, his Keurig, and late night munchies...

Mucho gusto/nice to meet you Andrew Ward. Your name makes me always want to include your first and last name. Are you one of those first/last name people? Just curious.

Now that you mention that, I do get that a lot more than I realize. I like it. Makes me feel kinda James Bond esque.

Alright, tell me a bit of who you are and what you do.

I'm just a 24 year old white boy from Akron, Ohio loaded with ambition. I currently have two residencies. My first one in Miami was at Purdy Lounge. I'm also the Friday night resident at

Chalk Miami Beach

. I'm pretty excited, this week Afrobeta is coming back to join me at Chalk for the second time.

Next Tuesday I get to join my friends for Slap & Tickle at the Electric Pickle. I've got a lot things up my sleeve for this summer and I'm really proud to have my friends at Off the Radar and Kloud IX on my team. Watch out for some original material. This should be an amazing summer for me.

Let me get down to business here. How do you stay up so late? What time do you go to bed on nights you don’t work? Work nights? Seriously, give us the scoop on that I think everyone has wondered about how you super-human DJs cope.

I'm not a morning person unless I just haven't gone to bed yet. It seems I always have something to do at least every other night, so I don't ever get a chance to break the cycle. I'm not exactly a huge fan of it, but that's why I have a Keurig machine.

If I do manage to get a break for a couple days, the next thing I know it's the weekend again.

Best late night, post gig, munch spots?

Lately it's definitely been T-Mex on 14th street. I like to go there and stuff my face with tacos. Seemingly it's proven to lessen my hangovers in the morning.

Favorite bar for the music? The drinks? The specials?

(786) at Purdy Lounge on Wednesday night is my perfect fix for underground indie/nu disco jams. Ladies drink for free from 10-12, plus their coined PB&J drink special. $2 PBR's and your choice of Jager, Jameson or Jose Cuervo shots for $5 all night long. What more could you want?

Might as well pick your brain for selfish reasons while we have your attention. Three summer jams?

I'm really stoked about Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs coming out with his first full length album in June. Chris Malinchak just dropped a dope EP last week called Ironbound and Flight Facilities released a teaser for this new track called "With You" due out next week, that I'm excited about.

hear Andrew spin at

Chalk

with Afrobeta tonight and play some ping pong while you're at it. It's a no brainer.
