proenza schouler, an excuse to talk about pretty clothes (that have a little do to with miami)
lazaro Hernandez (one half of Proenza Schouler, click here for our initial write-up) is from Miami, I read somewhere that his mom works in a Miami peluqueria and I've written to their PR firm begging for a quick convo with him. But, alas, he obviously has better things to do like pose for ridiculously cute pictures like this one:
and because the line's Spring collection is just as lovely as usual, I'll forgive him, take the high road, and share the highlights with you.
practically speaking, the most admirable (and imitable) detail of the collection are the lengths of the skirts and dresses. The hems just barely brisk the knee cap or fall right below just barely covering.
We're still seeing this mixing and matching of patterns that I wish every Miami girl could figure out how to pull off. There's something about the layering of colors and looks that really resonates with what I imagine as the dreamlike version of Miami where everyone is a Proenza girl. This palette is a different, more muted, tie dye, floral deliciousness. I have trouble looking at this for fear of keeling over in envy.
But, the Proenza pricepoint is far from mine, so I'll be on the lookout for skirts at these awkward and amazing lengths and maybe I'll embark on (and share) an arts and crafts project to try and channel the chunky necklaces.
Lazaro, have your people hit me up wouldja? I just wanna chat about peluquerias and dip dyes.
