just a little of Little Havana

Cuba oh Cuba, so far, yet actually not that far....

on a day trip for some blog worthy pics of little havana (also just some croquetas) miami nice editor partricia and i captured nice photos as well as the hearts of some real cute viejos- no they werent checking us out, but we were checking them out (!)... purely for documentation of their presence and influence on the miami culture.

first off let me just say the old cuban men we encountered were the most grateful, friendly and humble humans... as for the abuelas, well they can get pretty rowdy. heh just playin mama y abuela!
well this is a photo i snapped of this ol cuban fellow. i kindly asked him if he would mind me taking his photo while waiting at a red light, his response- "si, como no" and he happily posed.
he then asked me if it was going in a magazine, and i did the good ol computer hand signal, which was me looking like a condescending doofus typing with my typing fingers uttering "no por el internet, lo conoces?" heh. he nodded and i quickly got off the car and handed him a miami nice business card. hopefully he'll know what to do with it, or at least have a couple grandsons who might.
anyhoot here he is:

so patricia and i continued exploring and ended up in versailles for a lunch break and cafesito- where we came across other old cuban men who expressed their love of cuba and their love of loving cuba in versailles.
here is a photo of me sipping on a cortadito:

mmm... so delicious and so charged!

(while at versailles we found some real interesting newspaper publications regarding cuba. they were all free and awesome. my next blog post is about it.)
so pati and i crossed the street to this place, u may know it?
farmacia luis:

the reason i blog about this pharmacy is because...
a.) its unique. not your average cvs or walgreens. and as a small business enthusiast, i give this farmacia props.
b.) check it out inside!

do you know any other pharmacy where you can get your prescriptions while taking a gander at a porcelin doll collection for sale? ...i didnt think so.

also, farmacia luis sells all sorts of kooky things that were awesome, like gold elephant statues, lamps, bata de casas... i bought myself some african cologne with natural aphrodisiacs-its what i like to call an "afro-disiac." i cant tell you what it smells like, im yet to use it, but lol i coudlnt walk away from that.

overall the day was pretty successful and pretty fun...
on that note, il leave you with this photo that i snapped while heading back to mi casa:

our guess is that john lennon would totes approve.
